At Aberystwyth Station, the railway has recently unveiled a new station and multifunction display facility as part of the “Wales to the World” project. This £2.2 million development includes a Great Western Railway-style station, a 5,000-square-foot museum showcasing the railway’s extensive collection of historic locomotives and rolling stock, and a new café offering a range of hot and cold beverages, snacks, and ice creams. The museum also serves as an events space, hosting community events, live music, and lunchtime concerts throughout the year.
The Two Hoots Café at Devil’s Bridge Station provides light refreshments when the train is running, allowing passengers to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
For those interested in a more personalized experience, the railway offers the option to charter a whole train, allowing for private excursions along the scenic Rheidol Valley.
Accessibility is a priority for the Vale of Rheidol Railway. The booking offices at both Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge are equipped with portable induction loops to assist visitors with hearing impairments. Wheelchair users can reserve space in a dedicated accessible carriage, and assistance dogs travel free of charge and are welcome in the gift shops and cafés.
The railway operates daily from March to November, with at least two steam trains running each day to Devil’s Bridge. Advance bookings are recommended and can be made through the railway’s website.
