Shed47 Railway Restoration Group operates the Lathalmond Railway Museum, a heritage railway located in Dunfermline, Scotland, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the region’s rich railway history. The museum features two operational railway lines, offering visitors a chance to experience steam train rides reminiscent of Scotland’s past.
Among its unique attractions, the museum houses the last operational wartime railway weighbridge in the country, providing a glimpse into the area’s historical significance. Adjacent to this, a model railway exhibit illustrates the transformation of the Lathalmond Valley from bogs to buses during and after the Second World War. Visitors can also explore the original WWII Royal Navy locomotive shed, which serves as the museum’s focal point, and enjoy rides on the standard gauge line, with the option to visit the station shop and a small museum detailing the history of West Fife’s railways.
The museum operates every Sunday from April 6th to October 5th, offering a variety of events and experiences for enthusiasts and families alike. For more detailed information, please visit the museum’s official website.
