The Jacobite Steam Train offers a scenic and nostalgic journey through some of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes. The 84-mile round trip runs from Fort William to Mallaig and is well known for its stunning views and historic significance.
There are three classes of travel. First Class Open Carriage features comfortable seating with extra legroom, private tables, and complimentary tea or coffee. The Compartment Carriage, available on morning services, provides private compartments for up to six people, though no food or drink is included. Standard Class offers vintage-style seating in refurbished coaches with access to a buffet carriage. Passengers in Compartment and Standard Class are welcome to bring their own refreshments.
Optional extras are available to enhance the experience. First Class passengers can pre-order High Tea, which includes sandwiches, scones, and cakes, with options for various dietary needs. Other add-ons include champagne, chocolates, flowers, and a whisky miniature collection from the Ben Nevis distillery.
The journey includes highlights such as crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct, seen in the Harry Potter films, and views of Loch Morar and Loch Nevis. Stops at Glenfinnan and Mallaig allow time to enjoy the surroundings.
