Heritage Railway Near Machynlleth

The Corris Steam Railway & Museum is a narrow-gauge heritage railway located in Corris, near Machynlleth, Powys, Wales. Established in the 1850s, the railway originally served the slate quarries of southern Merionethshire. Today, it offers visitors a chance to experience a 50-minute round trip through the scenic Dulas Valley aboard vintage steam locomotives.

Passenger services run on selected days from April to November, with trains departing Corris Station at 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, and 15:30. A round trip takes approximately 50 minutes, and all journeys must start and end at Corris Station. The Corris Railway Museum, located at Corris Station, is open on operating days from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The museum showcases the history of the railway and the region’s slate industry. A small café offers light refreshments, including teas, coffees, and snacks.
