Chasewater Railway

Chasewater Railway offers a comprehensive experience for enthusiasts of steam railways and heritage lines, featuring vintage trains, a museum, and a variety of facilities and services. Visitors can enjoy rides on heritage steam and diesel locomotives, explore a museum with artifacts dating back to the 1800s, and shop for model railway products and souvenirs. The railway operates nearly 4 miles of track around Chasewater Country Park, with stations at Brownhills West, Norton Lakeside Halt, Chasewater Heaths, and Chasetown Church Street. Brownhills West Station, built in traditional Victorian style, offers a buffet with hot and cold snacks, indoor seating, and level access to trains and all station areas to aid disabled visitors. The station also features male, female, and disabled toilets, and a car park with over 40 spaces, plus an overflow car park offering an additional 150 spaces. Dogs are welcome on a lead, and guided tours are available by prior arrangement. The museum, accessible to visitors with mobility difficulties, showcases a vast array of railway items, including historic wagons and passenger coaches, some dating back to 1875. Admission to the museum is free, and it has a searchable online catalogue with thousands of images of the objects in the collection. The museum is open to the public between 11:00 am and 3:30 pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the operating period. The gift and model railway shop at Brownhills West Station sells a range of Chasewater Railway gifts, pens, pencils, and a good selection of Thomas Trains. The shop also stocks many products from major model railway brands, specializing in 00 gauge, with the option to order in any items needed from suppliers. All profits from the model shop go towards the upkeep and running of Chasewater Railway. The Sidings Tea Room at Brownhills West Station is open 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, offering indoor and outdoor seating. The railway hosts special events throughout the year, including themed events like the “Pirates and Princesses” event, which features costume competitions and treasure hunts. For group travel, the railway accommodates coach parties, educational and school visits, community groups, and general parties and celebrations by prior arrangement. Facilities for group bookings include full catering options to suit various requirements. The railway also offers driver experience courses, allowing visitors to operate a heritage locomotive under the guidance of experienced staff.
